Dear Friends of Downtown:

The long-awaited reconstruction of the Old Hattiesburg High School is ready to begin, and it’s going to start with a Cornerstone Campaign.

A tremendous amount of planning, designing, funding, and other work has been done since the fire in May 2007. Now we’re ready to move forward with restoration work that will cost nearly $1.8 million.

We now have $1.7 million in available funds, but we need an additional $100,000 so work can get started on this phase before more price increases occur. In addition, this restoration will help position the project for about $10 million in tax credit funding for complete renovation.

To meet this critical need, the Cornerstone Campaign is seeking 1,000 people who will each invest $100 in the restoration of the Old Hattiesburg High School. These funds will make this phase of work possible and move us forward to a more advantageous funding position for the future.

Once you’ve put your check in the mail, and you are an official member of the Cornerstone Campaign, add a personal note to this letter and email it to family, friends and co-workers.
